Prof. Dr. William Rees, University of British Columbia, Canada William Rees (born December 18, 1943), is a professor at the University of British Columbia and former director of the School of Community and Regional Planning (SCARP) at UBC. Rees has taught at the University of British Columbia since 1969-70. His primary interest is in public policy and planning relating to global environmental trends and the ecological conditions for sustainable socioeconomic development. He has had 30 years experience as the Deputy Chief Regional Planner for Greater London and South East England (SERPLAN) and as an urban planner for East Sussex County Council and Brighton Urban Structure Plan team (1966-1995). Meyrick was formerly the Deputy Director-Europe for the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), a not-for-profit agency helping local authorities worldwide to work towards sustainability (1995-1997) (...more at David Meyrick).
